ANATOLIA FOLKLORE TRAINING CENTER YOUTH AND SPORTS CLUB
Our society established in 1988, in İstanbul, TÜRKİYE Although AFEM is a
newly established society, it is consisted of young but experienced male and
female danceres and instructors who love Turkish folklore by heart and who
devote themselves on it whereas they have been busy either with their own professions or with their schools.
The members of our society are mostly university or high school students.
The intructors are all ameteurs who had become interested in Turkish folklore
while they were themselves dancers approximately ten or fifteen years ago.
TÜRKİYE has seven geographical regions and seventy three cities in which
there are different folkloric characteristics, because Türkiye has always become
a first step to many civilizations as she is a kind of bridge between Europe and
Asia.
Our instructors have researched the costumes, special meals and special ceremonies of the cities they focus on as well as the dances.
At the moment, AFEM has five instructors from four regions of Türkiye adding
one more instructor each year to teach another city’s dance to our members.
AFEM has joined several festivals organized either in different cities of Türkiye
and in the World since 1988.
